An Artist Sells Words to Produce a Film
Nikola Raykov is 27 years old author, filmmaker and a web designer. He dreams of directing his first feature film, based on his award-winning screenplay and he may have found a strange way to do it. Nikola has compiled a list of the "1000 most important words on the web" and he is selling them to advertisers on a website that feels more like an interactive game than a regular webpage.
Stara Zagora, Bulgaria (PRWEB) February 9, 2009 -- A Bulgarian artist and a filmmaker hopes to direct his first feature film, by selling interactive advertising words.
Nikola Raykov has a few awarded and published stories ranging from fantasy to drama. He has also directed some commercials and documentaries and besides all that he runs a small web design company with his wife. But his big dream is yet to produce his first feature film.
His award-winning screenplay "ENTER" tells the strange story of a desperate young man, who awakens trapped in a bizarre labyrinth, with amnesia - sets out to solve the puzzle and find a way out, but has to play by the illogical rules of this nightmarish world and its quirky inhabitants.
To accomplish his goal Nikola has launched an innovative website a week ago. 1000wordsforsale.com (http://www.1000wordsforsale.com) is based on the premise that the most important words on the web are the ones most people search for and therefore are the ones advertisers would pay for. The website itself presents those words to the users in an interactive fashion as they spin in 3D space under the control of the mouse pointer.
If an advertiser is willing to pay $100 for a word of his choice it will be linked to his website for the period of 10 years potentially bringing him lots of traffic. Or, according to the website, the customer can resell it later, keeping 50% of the new sold amount as his profit.
Although the website has been online only for a week a few Bulgarian companies have already purchased some words. Among them are a night club, properties selling website and an industrial power equipment repair company.
"At a price of 10$/year this might turn out to be the cheapest and most effective advertising you have ever done" says Nikola Raykov, but only the future will show if we will be filming the opening shots of "ENTER" any time soon.
